The photographer of the State Hermitage Jury Molodkovets has embodied some exhibits and fragments of interiors of the Winter palace, reminding of two favourite Nabokov's motives – butterflies and chess. Photos of chess tiles of a floor, ornaments in the form of butterflies quite often look as a picture whereas the butterflies drawn by scientific illustrator Natalia Florenskoj, look, on the contrary, as photos. Florensky "Lolita", “Pale fire”, "Hell", “Sebastjana Knight's True life”, and also in numerous verses and letters has represented those kinds of butterflies which Nabokov mentions in the novels "Pnin".
Designer Mitja Harshak "has opened" the Nabokov's alphabet. Having analysed Nabokov's manuscripts, he has created a certain "average" variant of a writing Nabokov of each letter. Some of Nabokov's letters remind school propisi whereas some come to the end with unexpectedly graceful strokes.
Alexander Florenskogo's devoted to colour perception of letters the products should adjoin to works Harshaka. Nabokov in the autobiographies wrote, that each letter is represented to it "painted" in certain colour, and similar letters in English and Russian to languages at it far not always coincided.
The Florensky has created “Nabokov's rainbow” in which each letter has a place, according to the Nabokov's description. However works have been detained at customs and to arrive in time to exhibition opening on Friday were not in time. It is expected, that they will arrive to London in the near future.
